**WAR**

• Take out all face cards except the ace. The ace is one.

• Deal out the entire deck of cards to players.

• Each player turns over a card.

• The player with the highest card number picks up all cards and is the winner of that round.

• If two players have the same number, they each place down another card, highest number takes all the cards.

• The winner is the person with the most cards at the end of the game.

Game Options

– Lowest number card is the winner.

– Even number card is the winner.

– Odd number card is the winner.

**TWO CARD WAR**

• Deal out the entire deck of cards to players.

• Each player turns over two cards.

• The player with the largest sum of the two cards wins the round.

• If more than one player has the same sum, they must turn over two more cards, the highest sum wins all cards.

• The player, with the most cards at the end of the game wins.

Game Options

– Turn over two cards and subtract the smaller number from the larger number. That number is your score for that round. Write down your score.

– Continue until all cards are turned over. Highest total wins.

**CONCENTRATION**

• Using only the hearts and spades (aces through nine) from a standard deck of playing cards, place the cards face down in a three by six array.

• A child turns up two cards, if the two cards make a ten the child removes the pair from the array.

• Since the child has found a pair of ten friends, the child continues to turn over two more cards. If the two cards do not add up to ten, the cards are returned face down to their respective positions.

• The next child now tries to find a pair of ten friends. The game continues until all pairs of tens have been removed. The child with the most pairs of ten friends is declared the winner.

**PIG**

You’ll need anywhere from 3 to 13 players, a deck of cards with four cards representing any single denomination for each player in the game. Therefore, four players would use a 16 card pack consisting of four aces, four kings, four queens and four jacks.

• Deal four cards, one at a time, to each player.

• The goal is to create a group of four of a kind in your hand. You must not be the last to discover when some one else achieves the same object. Be alert!

• The players look at their hands. Every player then passes a single card to the player at the left, then picks up the card passed by the player at the right.

• When any player has in hand four cards of one denomination (four queens), that player stops passing or picking up the cards.

• Immediately, he or she puts a finger to their nose.

• All the other players must instantly halt passing.

• Each must also put a finger to their nose.

• The last to do this is the PIG.

**CLOSE TO 20**

You will need 2 to 3 players, a deck of standard cards (use the 0 – 10 in spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs (ace is one and queens are 0) remove the kings and jokers), the Close to 20 score sheet, and counters.

How to Play

• Deal five cards to each player.

• Take turns. Use any three of your cards to make a total that is as close to 20 as possible.

• Write these numbers and total on the score sheet. Find your score. The score for the round is the difference between the total and 20. For example, if you choose 8 + 7 + 3, your total is 18 and your score for the round is 2 (20 – 18 = 2).

• After your record your score, take that many counters.

• Put the cards you used in a discard pile and deal three new cards to each player. If you run out of cards before the end of the game, shuffle the discard pile and use those cards again.

• After five rounds, total your score and count your counters. These two numbers should be the same. The player with the lowest score and the fewest counters is the winner.
